Educational opportunities
OIP has partnered with the International Club at Santa Clara University to raise funds for a scholarship to enable outer island students to attend good schools in the main center. The club has committed to donating 60% of the proceeds from their passport photo production project to fund a scholarship for outer island students to attend private schools on the main centers in Chuuk. This fundraising project would start in January, 2010 and funds would then be offered to Xavier High School or Saramen Chuuk Academy to help pay for tuition for selected outer island students at those schools. I am grateful to Dr. Terry Shoup, Interim Executive Director of International Programs at Santa Clara University for his support in investing the office funds into the passport photo equipment for the fundraising.
